Not sure what to do with the space above your bed? Read this!

My top tips:

  • Remember the rule of thirds - if you're hanging anything above the bed (art, wall hanging, a shelf) it should span about two-thirds the width of the bedhead

  • Similarly with paneling - come one-third of the way in, and leave the rest open if you like an asymmetric look

  • Hang your pieces 20-25cm above the top of the bedhead

  • Space artwork 5-10cm apart

  • If you're hanging pendants above your side table, leave 45-60cm between the table and the bottom of the pendant

  • Use a narrow picture ledge so you don't bash your head
